SUA Subgroup Bylaws

1. Subgroup Categories

  • Voting Members: Eligible to vote in subgroup elections, hold leadership positions, and represent subgroup nationally/internationally. Must hold SCFHS classification + qualification in the subgroup’s specialty.
  • Non-Voting Members: May join and participate in activities, but cannot vote or hold leadership roles.

2. Joining a Subgroup

  • Voting Members: Apply via SUA website + required documents → reviewed by subgroup leadership + SUA Board.
  • Non-Voting Members: May join directly without formal approval.

3. Voting Eligibility

  • Active SUA Members in good standing (dues paid, no violations).
  • Subgroup membership for at least 6 months.
  • Resident Members are not eligible.

4. Subgroup Leadership Eligibility

  • Head: At least 2 years as a Voting Member, Saudi national, SCFHS license, subgroup expertise (fellowship, publications, or practice).
  • Vice Chairman: At least 1 year as a Voting Member, Saudi national, SCFHS license, active engagement.

5. Nomination & Election of Subgroup Leaders

  • Overseen by a Nominating Committee (appointed by SUA Board).
  • Self-nomination or peer-nomination (with seconder).
  • Elections before SUA annual conference, via secret ballot.
  • Terms: 3 years, renewable once (max 6 years).
  • Results verified by Tellers Committee.

6. Duties of Leadership

  • Head: Presides over meetings, represents subgroup at SUA Board, coordinates activities, submits annual reports.
  • Vice Chairman: Assists Head, assumes duties if absent, supports goals, and contributes to reports.

7. Vacancies & Termination

  • Interim replacement appointed by SUA Board.
  • Failure to perform duties may result in removal after review.

8. Review of Bylaws

  • Subgroup bylaws reviewed every 3 years by SUA Board.
